School Safety
At KIPP SoCal, the safety of our KIPPsters is our top priority—and we take that responsibility seriously. Our commitment is rooted in a clear promise: to protect both our Little and Big KIPPsters by following reasonable, research-backed policies, procedures, and safety standards designed to create the safest possible environment for learning and growth.
Campus Safety Measures
KIPP SoCal operates a closed campus. Students may not leave school grounds between arrival and dismissal unless signed out by a parent or guardian. Emergency contacts must have written permission from the legal guardian to pick up a student.
- All exterior doors and gates are locked after arrival and dismissal and remain secured throughout the day
- Visitors must check in at the main office and wear a visitor badge at all times
- Entry is conyrolled by an intercom/buzzer system
- Classroom doors remain locked and propped with door blocks for quick closure if needed
Student Dismissal
For your child’s safety, we require an ID or dismissal placard when picking up students—whether at regular dismissal or for early pickup. If a staff member doesn’t recognize you, we may ask for ID at any time during the year. Students will only be released to a parent, guardian, or emergency contact listed on file. To update contact information, visit the main office or use Infinite Campus (app or website).
Safety Reminders
Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe everyday!
- Always close exterior gates behind you—never prop doors open.
- Don’t hold the door for unfamiliar individuals. All visitors must check in at the main office.
- After exiting the parking lot, wait for the gate to fully close before driving away.
Emergency Preparedness
We prioritize the safety of students and staff through year-round emergency preparedness, including:
- Regular review and updates of emergency protocols
- Monthly school-wide drills (fire, earthquake, lockdown)
- Staff training in lockdowns, evacuations, reunification, CPR/AED, first aid, and more
- Campus and regional Incident Command Systems
- ParentSquare emergency notification system
- On-site emergency supplies
- Strong partnerships with local police and fire departments
We’re committed to keeping our school community safe—every day, in every scenario.
