Leading for Liberation

Our purpose is to provide a liberatory education for students, where diverse identities are affirmed, multiple voices are heard, and and liberatory spaces are created that prioritize racial justice and educational equity in our ever-present pursuit to become an anti-racist organization. We are today's educators, creating safe spaces for the teaching of truth. We are joyful together, change-makers, problem solvers, lifelong learners, equity-builders. We are revolutionaries.

Teaching Truth

We believe in teaching truth to invite our children's whole-selves into the classrooms, creating safe and nurturing learning environments within which both our students and educators feel respected, seen, and affirmed.

By teaching the truth, we do not distort history; we right it. A truthful curriculum engages a child in a much broader investigation of the past, and fills in the gaps. We invite our students to celebrate our varied humanity, to understand better the meaning of our differences, to develop as critical thinkers, and to imagine together how they might create a more just world.

We Are Revolutionaries

At KIPP SoCal, a revolutionary spirit is in our hearts. Fighting for educational equity has always been hard work. It can be frustrating, exhausting, heart breaking and heart expanding, but in our recovery, we’re committed to meeting the challenges of this moment, and believe in the power of education to liberate.
