Middle School Support

KIPP Through College (KTC) Counselors provide students and families with support along their journey to and through college. In Middle School, KTC counselors introduce KIPP families to a variety of high school options, providing support throughout the high school placement process and transition into high school. KIPP Through College (KTC) Counselors provide students and families with support along their journey to and through college. While in high school, KIPP alumni are assigned a KTC Counselor who supports them through the college application and matriculation process. Learn more here.

We continue to work towards goals through tailored content development that seeks to provide access to and mirror our general education, improved instructional practices, an evolving approach to developing IEP’s and more tools for responsive teaching.

Mental Health

We ‘heal the heart so the brain can learn.’ Our multidisciplinary team of licensed and certified school counselors, psychologists and behaviorists provide personalized support at each school that responds to the needs of each student. Key Support Initiatives

Application

September 2020 - February 2021

A simple, 5-minute online application is required each year for all students who wish to attend a KIPP SoCal school. Applications for the 2021-2022 school year can be submitted between October 6, 2020 – October 6, 2021. Note: To have the best chance of being accepted and to be eligible for the lottery, submit your application prior to February 12, 2021.

February 2021 - March 2021

If the number of applications received is greater than seats available, a public lottery is held. The lottery for the 2021-2022 school year will take place on February 27 & 28, 2021. On these days, names are drawn through a random, automated lottery process, and families are notified of their admission status soon afterward by email and mail.

Enrollment

Upon acceptance into a KIPP SoCal Public School, accepted families will then need to register their child(ren) for that school. To register, a family will complete an online packet about their student and submit a student birth certificate, parent/guardian photo ID, proof of address, and immunization records.

Orientation

Each summer, our schools host ‘orientation’ events to ensure that our families and students are set-up for success to start the school year strong. These meetings will help families learn important information and receive resources for your child’s first day at a KIPP SoCal school!

For accepted families, be sure to attend school on the first day! For our waitlisted families, don’t lose hope! We often accept many waitlisted students within the first 3 weeks of school.
