Our Commitment to Team & Family
“Our Team & Family have really come together during this time ... There's just a very deep love and commitment to our staff, our scholars, and our community, and that's what keeps me going. Every leader is aware that we must meet this moment in order to truly serve our communities." — Chinedu Udeh, School Leader
Throughout this unprecedented time, we remember that in learning, prioritizing our connection with and love for our kippsters, big and small, is how we’ll ensure that we will all continue to learn. As such, KIPP SoCal Public Schools initiated the following preventive measures to continue to lead with love:
- KIPP SoCal Public Schools remain engaged in a holistic approach to a high quality distance learning program that supports the academic growth and development of all KIPPsters with standards-based programs, independent reading, supplemental Google Classroom lessons and activities, bi-weekly progress check ins with teachers, and weekly packets.
- To ensure access to distance learning, KIPP SoCal has distributed 3,700 Google Chromebooks, 900+ mobile hotspots, and 400 iphones equipped with 5G hotspots to our families.
- During this time, we operate our Grab-&-Go meal distribution at 15 KIPP SoCal sites with an emphasis on providing meals not only for our own KIPPsters but for all families in need, while maintaining the health and safety of all on-site. We only ask one question to visitors: “How many people do you need to feed?” We have distributed over 240,000+ meals to our students, families, and communities.
- KIPP Through College counselors continue to support 4,300+ alumni with micro grants for college expenses, including support for airfare, technology, groceries and other unanticipated costs.
- KIPP SoCal puts people first, and will exhaust all avenues to support team members during this time.
