School Closure Process

Based on guidance from local and state agencies, we have made the difficult decision that all KIPP SoCal Public Schools across Los Angeles, Compton, and San Diego will remain physically closed for the remainder of the school year. While our facilities will be closed, teaching and learning will continue.

While we understand that this presents challenges for our students, families and team, safety continues to be our priority, and the most effective way to slow the spread of this virus is by continuing to implement social distancing practices.

Our school year will continue through distance learning. KIPP SoCal will continue to enhance our program to support the academic growth and development of your child through distance learning. Together, we promise to continue to see, develop and inspire the greatest potential in each KIPPster.

On March 27, Los Angeles Health Officer orders were issued to ensure that those who test or presumed to be positive for COVID-19 are required to self isolate for a 7 day period and 3 days of being symptom free. Additional quarantine orders provide guidance for those who have been exposed (defined as 'within 6 feet for more than 10 minutes') to someone who has tested positive to also quarantine themselves for 14 days from exposure.

KIPP SoCal Public Schools will follow the directives and the present 'Stay-at-Home' order from California Governor Gavin Newsom. Currently, President Trump has not issued an official Federal stay at home order. Despite recent statements from President Trump to 'open up the country' away from social distancing, California is mandated to follow Governor Newsom's 'Stay-at-Home' order and current directives.
