Dress Policy

The goal of KIPP Sol is to prepare our students for high school, college and the professional world beyond KIPP. Our dress policy is designed to promote unity, ensure that students are safe and age-appropriately dressed from head to toe, and to limit distractions so the focus is on learning.

STUDENT DRESS CRITERIA AND OPTIONS

  • Navypants
  • Navy skirt / no shorter than 2 inches above the knees
  • Navy shorts / no shorter than 2 inches above the knees
  • No jeans or jean-like pants/shorts or jeggings, except jeans on designated free dress days on High/School College Wear Mondays
  • 5th grade: White color polo
  • 6th grade: Blue color polo
  • 7th grade: Grey color polo
  • 8th grade: Yellow color polo
  • College Homeroom shirts or other KIPP SoCal T-Shirts on Mondays ONLY (school determined; optional). This will begin on a designated date communicated with families and students, and will not begin on the first day/week of school.
  • Solid Gray sweatshirt (KIPP Sol logo optional)
  • Solid Gray cardigan sweater (KIPP Sol logo optional)
  • Solid Gray outerwear jacket (KIPP Sol logo optional)

Plain long-sleeve undershirts in the following solid colors: black, white, navy, or gray (optional). Appropriate school shoes that allow students to participate in physical recreation. Shoes should not exceed 2 inches above the ankle. No sandals or open-toed shoes. Exception: Rain boots may be worn on rainy days.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

  • Gray T-shirt with the student’s name on it, (KIPP Sol logo optional)
  • Navy athletic shorts with the student’s name on it (KIPP Sol logo optional)
  • Gray sweatpants with the student’s name on it (KIPP Sol logo optional)

Physical Education Uniform Guidelines:

  • Only 5th-grade students can wear a PE uniform on the days they have PE.
  • All other grade levels must come to school in their uniform and change into their PE uniform the period they have PE: Navy athletic bottoms with a gray top (t-shirt). No logos are allowed on the top unless it is a school logo. Students are required to bring their PE uniform to school and change into their uniform on PE days.
  • Athletic shoes for physical activity (No open-toed shoes for safety)
  • Athletic towel with name on it (optional)
  • Transparent water bottle with name on it (optional)

OTHER DRESS CRITERIA

  • Clothing, jewelry, and personal items, such as backpacks and book bags, with language or images that are vulgar, sexually suggestive, discriminatory, obscene, libelous, contain threats, or that promote illegal or violent content such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia, are strictly prohibited.
  • Clothing, shoes, or accessories that may not be age-appropriate, unsafe, or disruptive during the school day will not be allowed.
  • KIPP SoCal Public Schools is not responsible for lost or stolen jewelry, accessories, or other personal items.

Student Meals

We are pleased to inform you KIPP SoCal Public Schools will be continuing an option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2024–2025 school year.

What does this mean for you and your children attending a KIPP SoCal Public School?

  • All enrolled students of KIPP SoCal Public Schools  are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2024 – 2025 school year. No further action is required of you. Your child will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application.
  • WE NEED YOUR HELP! Every year KIPP SoCal Public Schools must collect information regarding household income from our families. Based on this information, our school receives funds from the state government. 

Healthy Meals

Students are served food low in fat, sugar, and sodium for breakfast and lunch. These meals are compliant with USDA and CDE requirements to ensure that our students have the proper nutrition to make the most of their school day.

Meals service offered and times: 

  • Breakfast:  7:15-9:30 AM
  • Lunch: 10AM-2PM

  • If you believe that you or your child has experienced unlawful discrimination or discriminatory harassment at school based on any protected class, you have the right to file a formal complaint.

USDA Nondiscrimination Statement
