Dress Policy

The goal of KIPP Philosophers Academy is to prepare our students for high school, college and the professional world beyond KIPP. Our dress policy is designed to promote unity, ensure that students are safe and age-appropriately dressed from head to toe, and to limit distractions so the focus is on learning.

STUDENT DRESS CRITERIA AND OPTIONS

  • Khaki or Black pants
  • Khaki or Black skirt / no shorter than 2 inches above the knees
  • Khaki or Black shorts / no shorter than 2 inches above the knees
  • No jeans or jean-like pants/shorts or jeggings, unless on designated free dress days
  • Navy Blue Polo shirt, logo optional
  • Solid, plain, logo-less Black, Navy Blue, Grey or White sweatshirt (KPA logo optional)
  • Solid plain, logo-less Black, Navy Blue, Grey or White cardigan sweater (KPA logo optional)
  • Solid plain, logo-less Black, Navy Blue, Grey or White outerwear jacket (KPA logo optional)

Plain long-sleeve undershirts in the following solid colors: black, white, navy, or gray (optional). Appropriate school shoes that allow students to participate in physical recreation. Shoes should not exceed 2 inches above the ankle. No sandals or open-toed shoes. Exception: Rain boots may be worn on rainy days.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

  • Navy Blue Athletics T-shirt with the student’s name on it (KPA logo optional)
  • Gray athletic shorts with the student’s name on it (KPA logo optional)
  • Gray sweatpants with the student’s name on it (KPA logo optional)
  • Athletic shoes for physical activity (No open-toed shoes for safety)
  • Athletic towel with name on it (optional)
  • Transparent water bottle with name on it (optional)

OTHER DRESS CRITERIA

  • Clothing, jewelry, and personal items, such as backpacks and book bags, with language or images that are vulgar, sexually suggestive, discriminatory, obscene, libelous, contain threats, or that promote illegal or violent content such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia, are strictly prohibited.
  • Clothing, shoes, or accessories that may not be age-appropriate, unsafe, or disruptive during the school day will not be allowed.
  • KIPP SoCal Public Schools is not responsible for lost or stolen jewelry, accessories, or other personal items.
