Candice Allison Smith
Director of Special Education
Candice Smith is first and foremost a teacher. She has worked within various school communities in the Los Angeles area for over 19 years. Candice has served in many capacities as a Director of Special Education, School Administrator, Program Specialist, Special Day, Early Education, and Resource Specialist teacher with proficiency in special education policy, education leadership, balanced literacy and Cognitively Guided Instruction.
Candice is a proud alumnus of Morris Brown College, an Historically Black College & University in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. She pursued her Masters of Accounting in 2005 before entering her educational career. It was her strong desire to support equitable educational practices, educate diverse learners and those deemed as marginalized that pushed her to become a special education teacher. She is a 2020 graduate of the UCLA Principal Leadership Program where she received her Administrative Credential and Masters with a strong focus of leading with justice.
Candice is truly excited to be a leader within the KIPP SoCal family and work with such an amazing community. Here's to many more years of Joyful Excellence!
