Bertha Hernandez
Director of Data & Analysis
Bertha Hernandez was born and raised in Los Angeles. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Linguistics from UC San Diego and a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College.
Bertha began her professional journey as a marriage and family therapist, working with court-mandated clients and families at a local non-profit. During this time, she discovered her passion for data and its power to inform change, leading her to join KIPP SoCal as a data intern in 2013.
Since then, Bertha has progressed to lead the Data Team at KIPP SoCal, overseeing the data life cycle of students from enrollment to culmination. In this role, she collaborates with various stakeholders, including academic and operational departments, to ensure data accuracy and effective use. Bertha is also dedicated to promoting data literacy within KIPP SoCal, believing that data-driven insights lead to more informed decisions and improved outcomes for students.
When she's not working, Bertha enjoys spending time with her family at Disneyland, California Adventure, or crafting with her two children.
