Melissa Torres

School Leader, KIPP Pueblo Unido

Melissa Torres is the School Leader at KIPP Pueblo Unido Lower School. Melissa has been working as an educator for the past 9 years and 5 of those years have been with KIPP SoCal.

Prior to becoming a School Leader, Melissa taught 3rd grade for 4 years at a Catholic School in Santa Fe Springs. She then joined KIPP Promesa Prep in 2017 where she was a founding 2nd grade teacher, founding 3rd grade teacher and Dean for 2 years. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2013 and her Masters in Education from Loyola Marymount University in 2015. Melissa was born and raised in East Los Angeles where she attended neighborhood public schools throughout her education. Her biggest goal is to give back to her community to ensure they are given high quality education and to be a positive role model. Melissa is a wife to her husband Kevin and mother to her baby boy Noah. Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports and going hiking with friends. Melissa is dedicated and passionate about this work. She believes that education is key and our students can become proud and driven leaders that can positively impact their communities.
