At KIPP Ignite, Black History Month was filled with meaningful moments of celebration, learning, and pride.
Two special spirit days—“My Crown, My Confidence” and “Color Us Proud”—gave students the opportunity to honor culture, identity, and history while building a strong sense of community.
During “My Crown, My Confidence,” students celebrated the beauty and cultural significance of their hair. Across classrooms and hallways, scholars proudly showcased their crowns in many shapes, styles, and textures.
The day created space for important conversations about how hair represents more than a personal style—it carries deep cultural meaning, history, creativity, and resilience. By celebrating every crown, the KIPP Ignite community reinforced an important message: every student deserves to feel seen, respected, and confident in who they are.

Later in the month, the school community came together again for “Color Us Proud.” Students and staff wore red, black, green, and gold — colors that symbolize courage, pride, heritage, and hope for the future.
These spirit days helped students celebrate history and culture while reminding KIPPsters that their identities and stories are something to be proud of.
