At the beginning of December, KIPP Promesa Prep was honored to open its doors to the Boyle Heights community for a neighborhood food bank in partnership with Siempre Unidos LA.
Through this partnership, more than 100 free grocery bags were distributed to families and community members during a time of real need.
Siempre Unidos LA was founded in response to ICE raids that deeply impacted local communities. Through that work, the organization launched Comida Para Todos, a food program created after leaders recognized a growing need for reliable access to groceries. With the support of generous business and organizational donors, Comida Para Todos provides free grocery bags to anyone who needs them.

While Siempre Unidos LA has an established distribution site in South Los Angeles, this partnership with KIPP Promesa Prep allowed the program to expand its reach to Boyle Heights and East LA, bringing resources closer to families in our community.
We are grateful to have served as a welcoming space where neighbors could come together, connect, and leave with groceries to support their households. This event was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when community organizations collaborate with care and purpose — and we’re proud to continue supporting our Boyle Heights families in meaningful ways.
This is why families #ChooseKIPP — schools that go beyond the classroom to support, uplift, and stand alongside our communities.
