Chris Frills

Director of Schools

Chris brings over 15 years of educational experience, most recently leading a national school improvement initiative focused on stabilizing and transforming 15 underperforming schools across three regions in a role at the KIPP Foundation. He directly supported four of those campuses and led a team that drove gains in academic outcomes, chronic absenteeism, and student experience, achieving measurable progress in course failure reduction and school culture. Chris has advised CEOs and principal managers in DC, Jacksonville, and Tulsa, helping reduce freshman course failure rates by as much as 40 percentage points and boosting mastery rates on interim assessments from 0% to 37% in a single quarter. Under his leadership, schools also saw dramatic improvements in TNTP survey results related to school safety and student-teacher relationships. A systems-thinker and coach at heart, Chris is passionate about building the capacity of school leaders and ensuring every student learns in a rigorous, joyful, and affirming environment.
