Carrie Olshan

Director of Special Education

Carrie Olshan is currently the Director of Special Education at KIPP SoCal Public Schools. Carrie joined KIPP SoCal in the summer of 2015 as the Lead Education Specialist at KIPP Comienza Community Prep Lower School. She went on to become the founding Case Manager for KIPP Comienza Upper School and moved into the Special Education Program Specialist role in 2017, overseeing a portfolio of 6 schools. Carrie became the Associate Director of Special Education role in 2021 to further increase her impact across the region, and transitioned into the Director of Special Education role in August of 2022. Prior to joining KIPP, Carrie was a Special Education teacher in Washington Heights for the NYC Department of Education, teaching self-contained classes for grades 5-8 and full inclusion for 3 years in the 8th grade. Carrie holds a BA in LIterature from SUNY Purchase and a dual Master of Science in General Education and Special Education from Touro College in NYC.
