Tania Hernandez

School Leader, KIPP Iluminar Academy

Tania Hernandez is the Principal at KIPP Iluminar Academy in East Los Angeles. Her career began as a teacher in Lynwood Unified School District where she taught second grade and was an active member of the Parent Teacher Association. In 2009, Mrs. Hernández joined KIPP and became a founding first and second‑grade teacher at KIPP Raíces Academy. In 2013, she joined KIPP Iluminar Academy to continue to spread excellence throughout East Los Angeles and has been at Iluminar since then serving as a founding Dean, Assistant School Leader, and Interim School Leader. Mrs. Hernández received her Bachelor's Degree from Loyola Marymount University and in 2014 received her Master's Degree in School Administration from the same university.
