KIPP SoCal Named One of America’s Best Communities for Music Education

PRESS RELEASE

Los Angeles, CA — KIPP SoCal Public Schools has been nationally recognized by The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for its outstanding commitment to music learning and student access to high-quality programs.

This prestigious honor, now in its 26th year, recognizes schools across the country that prioritize music education as a vital component of student growth and success. KIPP SoCal joins just over 1,000 districts and school sites nationwide that have been awarded for demonstrating exceptional achievement in providing music access and instruction to all students.

“At KIPP SoCal, we believe music is an essential part of a student’s educational journey — it builds confidence, deepens connection, and strengthens cognitive development,” said Lynnzi Brianza, KIPP SoCal Chief External Impact Officer. “This national recognition from The NAMM Foundation affirms what we see every day in our schools: that when students are given the tools and opportunity to express themselves through music, they thrive. We are proud to be cultivating joyful, creative spaces where all students can discover their voice.”

To qualify for the designation, KIPP SoCal submitted a comprehensive application detailing its investment in music programming, including funding, participation rates, instructional time, graduation requirements, facilities, and community engagement. The application was verified by school officials and reviewed by WolfBrown, a leading firm in arts education research.

KIPP SoCal offers a diverse range of music programs that reflect the cultural diversity and talents of its students, including mariachi, vocal ensembles, and piano. These programs not only spark creativity but also serve as powerful tools for academic engagement and social-emotional learning.

This recognition from The NAMM Foundation amplifies KIPP SoCal’s broader commitment to whole-child education, ensuring every student has access to the arts, rigorous academics, and a nurturing, affirming learning environment.
