Student Services

Over the last 15 years, KIPP SoCal has grown steadily to meet the needs of all of our students. KIPP SoCal's Student Services Team, which includes special education and mental health & support services, began as a team of six and has since grown to include 133 individuals dedicated to providing individualized support that responds to our communities' realities so that all students thrive in school and in life.

Counselor

We understand that mental health and social/emotional issues can impact classroom performance. We collaborate with students, families, and school staff to ensure that the psychological, emotional, and social needs of our students are met in order to help them thrive academically. We also provide school-based individual and group counseling services and collaborate with families to connect them with community-based agencies.

Special Education Manager

We provide leadership and professional development to drive the special education program at assigned sites and within the regional special education team. We manage and support the implementation of IEPs by collaborating with RSP teachers, general education teachers, and other support staff to maintain compliance and ensure access to quality education for our students with special needs.

Resource Specialist Program Teacher

We provide individualized academic and emotional support to ensure that our students with special needs are able to access grade-level content and thrive at our schools. We also support general education teachers and administrators by modeling ways to support students and ensuring that mandated accommodations and modifications are provided in the general education classroom and during special education service time.

Speech-Language Pathologist

We assess and provide speech and language therapy for students in grades TK-8th. We focus on developing students’ oral communication skills to support their ability to access their educational program.

Psychologist

We provide individual and group services to children that emphasize improved educational performance and/or conduct. We screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and we manage, conduct, and support special education teachers with Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Support Plans.
