KIPP SoCal Board of Directors 2008-2022

Frank was a beloved member of the KIPP SoCal Public Schools family for nearly 15 years. His service in the form of his tireless pro bono work and tenure on the KIPP SoCal Board of Directors, advancing our mission on behalf of our KIPPsters, is immeasurable.

In a 2019 Daily Journal article, Frank shared why he poured so much of himself into his work with KIPP SoCal. “I guess it’s my thing, right? …to me, these are schools where you get the sense that something very special is being done with an inviting culture and in an environment where kids will be able to find true opportunities they wouldn’t have otherwise.”

According to reflections by Marcia Aaron, founding KIPP SoCal CEO, and Angella Martinez, current KIPP SoCal CEO, Frank was a great mentor who helped KIPP through many challenges. During his tenure, he cleared a path for the school leaders, teachers, and team members to always do what is right and what is best for our students, families, and communities.

In April, Frank was recognized as the Los Angeles Business Journal 2022 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards: Business Angel of the Year. The award was accepted by Akin Gump partner and fellow KIPP SoCal Board member, Carlos Bermudez, who spoke about Frank’s long-standing love for and commitment to the students and families of KIPP SoCal Public Schools.
