Are you tuning in to the KIPP On Learning podcast? In a recent episode with Andrea Tecpoyotl, KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy alumna, chats about her experience as a member of the founding class of Goldberg Scholars and how she found her passion for activism!

Specifically, Tecpoyotl has spent considerable time advocating for DREAMers nationwide. She found her passion for activism when she advocated for the DREAM Act in Washington, D.C. During Tecpoyotl's time there, she met with Congress to push for legislation that would provide a permanent solution to protect DREAMers. Tecpoyotl's ultimate goal is to open a nonprofit organization that helps immigrants and the undocumented community.

Tecpoyotl reminisces of the day that she received notice of being a Goldberg scholar, “knowing that I was going to get support throughout my college journey was really exciting! … My family and I were over the moon given that I will be the first in my family to go to college. [As an undocumented student, attending and paying for college] was starting to be a dream come true for us.” It was her reality!

The Dave Goldberg Scholars Program honors the remarkable life and legacy of Dave Goldberg by providing exceptional KIPP graduates with financial support and mentorship throughout their college years. This annual scholarship is focused on assisting a new generation of diverse alumni to become the leaders of tomorrow.
