Commitment to Excellence

After enrolling at KIPP Vida Prep, the school leader, teachers, parents, and students sign a non-binding pledge called a “Commitment to Excellence.”

Teacher/School Leader Commitment.

We will commit to the KIPP Vida Prep school community in the following ways:

  • Doing whatever it takes to teach the academic skills, cultivate the character traits, provide the learning experiences and forge the community relationships needed for our students to thrive in middle school, high school, college and life.
  • Being available to parents and students by phone and in person.
  • Arriving at school on time and working hard throughout the instructional day.
  • Participating fully in grade-level and staff development meetings during the school year and summer.
  • Living and teaching the values-love, curiosity, ganas, and integrity, every day.
  • Working purposefully and intentionally to meet our professional and student achievement goals and outcomes.
  • Making decisions that are in the best interest of all our students.

Parent/Guardian Commitment.

We will commit to the KIPP Vida Prep school community in the following ways:

  • Helping our child in the best way we can and doing whatever it takes to support him/her with learning the academic skills, the character traits and participating in the experiences needed for him/her to thrive in middle school, high school, college and life.
  • Every night, we will read with our child and carefully check all papers s/he brings home including homework every night.
  • Calling the teacher or encouraging our child to call if s/he has any question or concern about the homework.
  • Making ourselves available to our children and the school in order to address any concerns.
  • Giving permission to and making sure our student attends KIPP Vida everyday. If our child is going to miss school, we will notify the teacher or school office as soon as possible.
  • Making sure our child follows the KIPP Vida dress code and arrives in uniform every day.
  • Understanding that our child must follow the KIPP Vida rules and values in order to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all individuals in the school.  We will be responsible for the behavior and actions of our child.
