Commitment to Excellence

Teacher/School Leader Commitment.

We will commit to the KIPP Ignite school community in the following ways:

  • Doing whatever it takes to plan and teach rigorous instruction, develop our students’ character, forge community relationships, and provide the learning experiences needed for our students to thrive in middle school, high school, college, and life.
  • Being available to parents and students by phone and in-person.
  • Arriving at school on time and working hard and staying throughout the school day.
  • Participating fully in grade level meetings and staff development meetings throughout the year.
  • Developing in our own selves the following values: hope, curiosity, ganas, and honor.
  • Working purposefully and intentionally to meet our professional and student achievement goals and outcomes.
  • Making decisions that are in the best interest of all our students.

Parent/Guardian Commitment.

We will commit to the KIPP Ignite school community in the following ways:

  • Helping our child and doing whatever it takes to support him/her in learning the academic skills, the character traits and participating in the experiences needed for him/her to thrive in elementary school, middle school, high school, college and life.
  • Reading with our child every night. We will also read and carefully check all papers (s)he brings home, including homework. We will call the teacher or encourage our child to call the teacher if there is a problem with the homework.
  • Making ourselves available to our child and the school in order to address any concerns.
  • If our child is going to miss school, we will notify the office as soon as possible.
  • Giving permission for our child to participate in all supplemental instruction as needed or enrichment activities
  • Ensuring our child follows the KIPP Ignite Academy dress code.
  • Understanding that our child must follow the KIPP Ignite rules and values in order to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all individuals in the school.  We will be responsible for the behavior and actions of our child.
  • Making sure our child arrives at KIPP Ignite everyday on time prepared to learn and stays throughout the instructional day, including supplemental instructional opportunities.
  • Exemplifying the values- hope, curiosity, ganas, and honor - every day with our child, the staff, and other families.
  • Attending and participating in meetings and conferences.

Student Commitment.

I will commit to the KIPP Ignite community in the following ways:

  • Always coming to school prepared to work hard, make good choices and live the KIPP Ignite values.
  • Doing whatever it takes for my schoolmates and me to learn and become leaders.
  • Thoroughly completing all of my homework every night and seeking help if there is a problem with the homework. I will raise my hand and ask questions in class if I do not understand something.
  • Always behaving so as to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all individuals in the school. I will follow the teachers' directions.   
  • Following the KIPP Ignite dress code and coming to school in uniform every day. 
  • Attending KIPP Ignite summer school and all mandatory instructional opportunities.
  • Arriving and being prepared to learn at KIPP Ignite on time everyday.
  • Being responsible for my own behavior and choices, and understanding that I will receive consequences when I make bad choices. I will respect and carry out the consequences I am given.
